8 Quick Morning Workout Routines – Wake Up & Energize

I’m not a natural morning person. My preferred pace in the morning is slow and leisurely, but the times I do manage to get a morning workout routine going, I feel so much better. Morning workouts leave you feeling energized, they shake out all that cranky stiffness, and you’ll start your day knowing you’ve given your fitness and mental state a good boost. Squeeze a quick morning workout routine in before work, and you’re on your way to hitting your fitness and weight loss goals.

6 Ways To Find Your Morning Workout Motivation

  1. Prepare for your workout the night before. Few of us have the luxury of spare time in the morning, so fitting in a morning workout takes planning. Decide when you need to get up and how much time you have available to work out. These workouts are quick, but you may need to get up a little earlier than usual – and go to bed a little earlier. Getting adequate sleep is essential when you’re trying to get fit.
  2. Find your workout motivation. Commitment is key. Rather than showing up for one morning workout and seeing how it goes, set yourself a challenge. It could be getting up for a morning workout every day for two weeks or a month. I like to keep a fitness logbook and fill it in after every workout. Looking through my weekly efforts is a huge motivator.
  3. Get up when your alarm goes off. It’s so easy to hit the snooze button first thing in the morning, and before you know it, you’ve run out of time for a morning workout. The best tip is to keep your phone out of reach, even in the next room, so you have to get out of bed to turn it off.
  4. Drink a glass of water. Make sure you’re fully hydrated before your workout by keeping a glass of water by your bed. Drink it as soon as you wake up.
  5. Get your workout kit ready. Have your kit to hand so you can pull it on quickly for your workout or even exercise in your pajamas. It also helps to assemble everything you need the night before, including a yoga mat and any equipment. These recommended workouts are all no-equipment required, to keep things easy.
  6. Flood your room with light. Turning on the light as soon as you wake up will make you less likely to roll over and go back to sleep. I’m a big fan of these natural light lamps. They’re a great help when you’re trying to wake up early in the dark winter months.
