Hiking can take you anywhere and it’s one of my favorite ways to explore the world. From trekking in Nepal to hiking in Spain or walking at home in the English Lake District, I’ve been fortunate to explore places all over the globe on my own two feet. Hiking changes you. It helps you to be self-reliant and get back in touch with the things that really matter. Everyone needs a break from busy lives and a multiday trek is a great way to put your life on pause!

Hiking For Beginners And Outdoor Lovers

Are you someone who walks everywhere? Or was the last time you hiked years ago as an impoverished student without a car?

It’s a tough one to start talking about the benefits of hiking. The list is so long. It’s not just the great cardio exercise, (if you’re walking at a fast pace it’s one of the best), taking a hike it’s a bit like pushing the reset button.

It’s a way of escaping the crowds, getting some fresh air, and soaking up incredible views. Apart from clothing and footwear costs, it’s free.

If your aim is to get fit or at least improve your health, walking is accessible to just about everyone. Even if you haven’t exercised in years I’m sure you can walk around your local park.

Start with a small goal and build on your success. If you manage to walk for 20 minutes every day for a week, the following week find a local hill to hike.

Read my hiking for beginners guide and seek out your first trails. My top advice is to find some buddies for the trails. Take on the challenge of a switchback trail and you’ll never look back!
